DETECTION BIAS:
A general term to describe systematic differences between study groups in relation to ascertainment, assessment, diagnosis, or verification of outcomes1. Detection Bias has many potential mechanisms and forms1, thus it may act as a Selection Bias or Information Bias depending on the context. The term Detection Bias was also formally used to describe Berkson’s Bias2. Also see: Verification Bias, Spectrum Bias, Information Bias, Selection Bias, and Berkson’s Bias.
