IDEOLOGICAL BIAS:
Presenting information in a scientific study, media, or other communication so that it conforms to ones, or a groups, ideals1. An ideal in this context is information that promotes an action that conforms to a standard of perceived excellence, beauty, perfection, or something that should be imitated by others.
Scientists, politicians, media groups, or the lay public may interpret the same data from a scientific study differently, and thus put-forth different messages describing the meaning. Ideological Bias is evident when this meaning conforms to preconceived ideals. Ideological Bias is a type of Interpretive Bias. White Hat Bias may be thought of as a specific type of Ideological Bias. Also see: White Hat Bias, and Interpretive Bias.
