VISUAL BIAS:

A general term that refers to any systematic errors when categorizing, or identifying objects, characteristics, or people while using sight1,2. Also, an enhancement or worsening of memory due to visual cues3.

The term Visual Bias is used in many different contexts, and may be classified as a subtype of many different biases; such as Memory Bias, Attentional Bias, Recall Bias, Cognitive Bias, Implicit Bias, or others, depending on the context. Visual Bias could lead to Misclassification Bias, or other Information Biases in medical research studies if physical characteristics are misidentified1.

The term Visual Bias is also used as a synonym for Visual Impairment (i.e. errors in identifying objects due to difficulties with sight), in some contexts. Also see: Memory Bias, Attentional Bias, Recall Bias, Cognitive Bias, Implicit Bias, Underlying Cause Bias (Rumination Bias), and Hindsight Bias.
